GRL - Author - Devon Rhodes

GayRomLit - Sullied - Devon Rhodes

Thanks for having me back on! And your GRL questions rock—one of my fave topics! :)

1. From all the amazing events, what was the one thing that surprised you most
about attending GRL?

Mostly what an absolute lovefest of all things MM it was. The reaction I get to what I write from many people IRL can be lukewarm at best, so it was amazing to be around so many wonderful authors and readers of the genre. I was also shocked at how many people knew who I was and were excited to meet me! O.O I kept wanting to ask, are you sure you aren’t mixing me up with someone else?

2. I HATE flying, but since I'm going to be coming from Michigan I have to.
YIKES! Where will you be traveling from and who will you be bringing with you?
Do you like to travel?

I’ll be coming down from the Portland, Oregon area, and though I’m technically not bringing anyone, it turns out Anne Tenino is on the same exacts flights as I am, so at least I’ll have a travel companion! And I’ve always loved to travel and enjoy it whether I’m flying or driving (or going by train lol).

3. What was your favorite part of GRL last year?

Well, the boys’ night was a great kickoff to last year, so I have a feeling that’ll continue to be a highlight! ;) Biggest thing was meeting and putting faces to authors and readers alike. Now I can picture them and hear their voices when I interact with them. J

4. If you learned one thing from the event, what would it be?

I can sleep when I get home.

5. What advice can you give those who will be attending GRL for the first time?

Try not to be nervous or shy. Sure, it can seem intimidating ahead of time when you see the names of those attending and think about meeting ‘strangers’, but the thing is—we’re not really strangers. We’re all making the trip because of something we love that we have in common, and that means the ice-breaking has already happened before you even got there!

6. Is there anything you didn't do at GRL last year that you wish you would
have? Anything you would have done differently?

I did pretty much everything!  Done differently? Probably got in a day earlier so I could be there for everything—the kickoff event was almost over by the time I made it there. Not an issue this year—I’m flying in on Tuesday!

7. I heard the Gentleman's party was a riot! Did you attend? Did those sexy
boys make you blush?

I got there, inherited a stool at the bar…and promptly turned my back to the entertainment in favor of visiting with other GRL’ers and watching them either blush or (mostly) not. I did dole out an autograph, but not any small bills. ;)

8. What was interacting with the readers and other authors like?

Amazing, fascinating, wonderful…made friendships, confirmed some suspicions, lol, and all in all had an incredible time.

9. They say what happens at GRL stays at GRL, any naughty stories you would like
to share?

Hmm, well rather than share, I’ll instead give a few pieces of advice. IF a reader manages to talk you into being the body for body shots, 1) try not to lay down right under the pool table light because you will be blind, 2) do not giggle once they put the shot on you unless you want your back to be sticky the rest of the night, 3) set a limit on how many people get to take a turn once you’re trapped there, 4) you’ll have to decide what’s a more hygienic cleanup method—the bar rag or someone’s tongue, and 5) make sure there’s a super popular male dancer laying there next to you so that any photographic endeavors will feature him and not you.

10. And because I'm just naughty that way, I've always wondered what men wear
under their kilts. Did you personally find out what Damon Suede wears under his?

Well let’s just say that when he whipped that baby up to show his flank, he was either bareassed or had an incredibly high-cut bikini on!

'Fan-Tastic' by Stephani Hecht

Everybody knows the best lovers are geeks.

It's time again for the annual Comic Book and Horror Convention. Normally, Deke liked to avoid these things. While he may be a well-known actor, he wasn't hunky or a beefcake and he was always overlooked. In fact, most people like to call him 'the geek of geeks'. But, the producers of his popular TV series don't care and they order Deke to go. So, while he knows he won't have any fun he has no choice but to attend.
Blake harboured a crush on Deke even before the other man became famous. When he finds out that Deke will be at the convention, Blake knows he has to attend as well. Since he is trying to promote his own comic, Blake decides that he can mix a little business with his fun.
To Blake's dismay, not only does Deke not remember him, but the actor refuses to believe that Blake could have any romantic feelings for a geek. Blake decides that he can't let this opportunity slip through his fingers, though. He may have given up on Deke all those years ago, but not this time. Will Blake be able to convince Deke to give him a chance? Or will the final credits roll before they find love?

'Rough Awakening' by Devon Rhodes

Is there anything worse than learning you have to share a hotel room with your ex-boyfriend and his new love? Mario has to scramble to find someone else to share with and ends up reconnecting with a sexy acquaintance...in more ways than one.
Jordan remembers Mario from two conventions ago and goes along with his need to find a roommate. Sparks fly between them from their first phone call and everything looks more than promising for a very memorable convention.
But when two tops tango, which one is guaranteed the lead? It ends up being a rough awakening for one of these alpha athletes...
